Dr. Ali’s Bold Leadership Stands Firm Against Drug Cartels and Criminal Networks
President Dr. Irfaan Ali has issued a strong warning against criminal activities, particularly targeting narcotics traffickers.
During the launch of the National Defence Institute, he emphasised that Guyana will not allow itself to be used as a conduit for criminal activities, and those who attempt to do so will face decisive action. Acknowledging recent successful drug interceptions and the efforts of law enforcement officials, President Ali reaffirmed the government’s commitment to dismantling any local criminal cells. Dr. Ali highlighted Guyana’s willingness to collaborate with other countries and stakeholders to combat drug trafficking and criminal networks operating in the region.
However, he stressed that success in these efforts depends on the support and assets provided by partners. He indicated that Guyana has already reached out to partners for assistance in securing the necessary resources, especially to address illegal overflights linked to criminal operations. Additionally, he noted that Guyana has supported initiatives aimed at taking down transnational criminal cartels.
This statement signals a robust stance on law enforcement and international cooperation in combating organised crime within Guyana’s territorial and air space.
